Belgian soprano Klara Vermeer has performed in several operas, oratorios, concerts and Lied recitals. Although Klara has been a singer all her life, she decided to go to the conservatory while studying biochemistry in Ghent, where people referred to her as “the singing laboratory technician”.
She made her opera debut in 2019 as Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and sang the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni directed by Louisa Muller in 2021. In 2024, she performed the roles of Cleopatra in Handel's Giulio Cesare and Despina in Mozart's Così fan tutte. In the same year, Klara was selected for the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, where she sang the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, the year after she was selected again, this time for Adele in Die Fledermaus. In 2025, she made her debut as Le Feu and La Princesse in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen.
In 2022, Klara performed the Belgian premiere of Dan Forrest’s Jubilate Deo with Vocaal Ensemble Markant. In 2023, she started BOS Producties, a collective of singers who produce music theatre for children. Their production Het Geheim van Nonkel Bos premiered that same year.

Klara had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses by Sasha Cooke, Anne Sofie von Otter, Dorothea Röschmann, Malcolm Martineau, Sasha Cooke, Furio Zanasi, Robert Crowe, Gary Jankowski, Roberta Faroldi, Ronny Lauwers, Mareike Zimmerman and Martin Wölfel. In 2023, she won the Hans-Judenkünig Preis for her vocal performance in lute song.
Klara graduated with highest distinction and congratulations from the jury from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in 2023, where she studied with soprano Anne Cambier. In 2025, she graduated from the International Opera Academy in Ghent.
